The world’s largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading slightly higher today. Bitcoin price rose 0.31% to $49,178 on Coinmarketcap. The market capitalization of the cryptocurrency is $931.30 billion.

Bitcoin plunged on Saturday, dropping more than 20% to $41,967 as a combination of profit taking and macro-economic concerns led to nearly $1 billion selling across the cryptocurrency.

Currently, the global cryptocurrency market capitalization is $2.29 trillion, with a loss of 0.66%. Other cryptocurrencies were trading on a mixed note today.

Ethereum rose 0.05% to $4,181 and Dogecoin was trading down 2.92% at $0.1719. The digital token Stellar rose 1.33% to $0.2827, and Litecoin fell 2.6% to $155.77.

XRP fell 3.52% to $0.8056 and Uniswap lost 3.27% to $16.40.

Recently, cryptocurrency prices have skyrocketed on the back of comments by billionaires Elon Musk and Kathy Wood from Ark Investment Management LLC.

In late July, Elon Musk said that Tesla would “probably” start accepting Bitcoin as payment again. The comment helped the cryptocurrency to cross the $30,000 mark. The electric car maker said in May that it would no longer accept cryptocurrency for purchase. It’s been a wild ride for bitcoin for the past three years.

The digital currency made its debut on Wall Street in December 2017, when major futures exchanges rolled out Bitcoin futures. Interest has pushed Bitcoin to nearly $19,300, an almost unheard of price for the coin.
